About the book

Compliance Is Not the Bogeyman walks the corporate reader from the myth that compliance is an obstacle through the architecture of governance, risk, and ethics, into the operational realities of corporate survival, and closes with a working field guide to the specific compliance topics any thinking professional should be able to recognise.
The book draws on case material from across the Caribbean (Stanford International Bank, CLICO), Africa (the Nigerian banking crisis, Steinhoff, the Mozambique tuna bond scandal), and the global financial system. It is structured for adoption into corporate compliance training programmes and university compliance and governance curricula.
The book is the companion to Letters to a Compliance Officer, the author's first book. The two are independent and reward readers who explore both.

About the author
Theon Alleyne, CRCP, CCEP
Theon began his regulatory career in 1997 at UBS Financial Services and has held senior roles at NYSE Regulation, FINRA, JP Morgan Chase, and IBM Consulting. He is one of the Caribbean's most credentialled compliance professionals, with the CRCP designation from the FINRA Institute at Wharton and the CCEP designation from the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics.
He is Director and Chair of the Services Sub-Sector at the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association, Secretary and Public Relations Officer of the Essequibo-Island West Demerara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a Partner at Equanize. He completed academic work for the Master of Public Administration with a concentration in the Inspector General Program (Inspection and Oversight). His undergraduate foundation is a BSc in Criminal Justice with Honours from Rutgers University.
He is also the author of Letters to a Compliance Officer (TSCP, April 2026), the companion to this book.
